The Playgrounds Are Empty
The playgrounds were empty, the lunchroom was closed. No swinging, no jumping rope, no ABCs, no 2+2=4. No laughter. No learning. The school where I teach was closed today, for the safety of the children. I didn't know how to explain to my own children "why". How can you tell a 5 year-old that they can't go to school because it's not safe?
